Zachary Nathan Paap passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 12, 2020 at Broward Medical Health Center in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Zach was born in Pensacola Florida on April 20, 1973, grew up in Newton, MA and graduated from UMass Amherst College in 1995. He was a wonderful, loving, caring man who demonstrated a deep commitment and dedication to his family and friends. He had an infectious smile, a true gleam in his eye. He loved life. He enjoyed nothing more than spending time with all of his family and friends and had a deep connection with his nieces and nephews. He was a mentor to his crews and a teacher of life. He was happiest when he was doing for others. A believer in paying it forward, he was always ready to help with any project you had around the house or yard. He shared his virtues of love, compassion and kindness to those whose life he touched.
Zach was a well-respected Captain and worked within the yachting industry for more than 25 years. He traveled the world and had a passion for the water. His heart was with the sea.
He is survived by this wife of almost 10 years, Alana Paap of Holland, MI; his parents, Jay and Lou Paap of Newton, MA; his sister, Heidi Katrina (Paap) Pignone and her children, Sebastian and Antonia of Walpole, MA; his brothers, Tobin and wife Charly Paap and their daughter Posey of Los Angeles CA; and Hans and wife Maureen Paap and their sons, Hugh and Pierce of Naperville IL.
We plan for a celebration of life in his honor which will be announced in the coming months.
